Organized by Prison Ministry India, Shimoga Diocesan Unit in Collaboration with Shankar Eye Hospital, Shimoga

On December 19, 2024, the Prison Ministry India, Shimoga Diocesan Unit, in partnership with Shankar Eye Hospital, Shimoga, organized a free eye checkup camp at the Central Prison, Shimoga. This initiative aimed to address the eye health needs of male inmates.

The camp, which commenced at 11:00 AM and concluded at 3:00 PM, witnessed the participation of 116 inmates. A total of 116 inmates were identified with various eye issues requiring further treatment or corrective spectacles. The Shankar Eye Hospital team, comprising Dr. Vaishnavi, Mr. Jayapriyan, Ms. Chethana, and Mr. Vishwa, extended exemplary services during the camp.

The event was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Ranganath P, Superintendent of Central Prison, Shimoga, Assistant Superintendent Miss Preethi R, Jailors Mr. Anil, Mr. Srishaila Kattimamani, and Sr. Helen Moras, Coordinator of the Prison Ministry India, Shimoga Unit. The support extended by the Superintendent and the entire prison staff was instrumental in the smooth execution of the camp.

The Shankar Eye Hospital team demonstrated high levels of professionalism and compassion, ensuring thorough examinations for all participants. The inmates expressed their gratitude for the care and attention received.

Following the successful completion of the camp, the prison authorities extended warm hospitality and served delicious food to the team, marking a gracious conclusion to the event.
