New Town, Bhadravathi: " These families who are taking covenant oath today have taken this step boldly out of their free will to be a light and salt in the midst of communities " said Bishop Francis Serrao SJ during his homily. He was preaching on the occasion of three couples making their covenant for Missionary Families of Christ in the presence of large number of faithful in the parish of Mary Immaculate, New Town, Bhadravathi Sunday, 4 June 2023.
Earlier these Families have undergone Christian Life Seminar as well as the Covenant Recollection lessons. Besides they have attended other retreats. After much consideration, reflection and spiritual preparation they have chosen to make the covenant.
The three families, Mr Anthony Wilson, Mr Wilson, Mr Paulose and their spouses, were administered the covenant oath and certificates were given to them.
Mr Arogyaswamy, a MFC member, thanked the Bishop for specially praying for these three families and delivering a meaningful homily. The Parish Priest, Fr Lancy Dsouza, was present during the ceremony and he congratulated the three families for taking a bold step towards building true Christian families.
Thereafter during the felicitation programme Fr Duming Dias, Director of Sanjeevana- Family Commission, congratulated the families on making covenant oath. In his short exhortation he admonished them to protect the three aspects- Faith, Family and Life of Missionary FamiliesofChrist. He also explained about the 7 core values of Missionary Families of Christ. To witness the event, the MFC - Shimoga and MFC - Bangalore were present both for the Holy Eucharist and the Felicitation Program.
At the end of the felicitation programme, Mr Arogyaswamy thanked all the persons involved in making the event a success, especially the Vicar, Fr Lancy Dsouza who took keen interest in the arrangement of everything. The program ended with a sumptuous meal.
