SHIMOGA, 15 SEPTEMBER 2023:
Sr Helen Moras, the Coordinator for Prison Ministry in the Diocese of Shimoga, along with Sr Treza, the Headmistress of St. Charles High School, Bhadravathi, and with Mrs Swetha, the teacher, a few parents and the school children from St Charles High School visited the Shivamogga Central Prison on Friday, 15 September 2023.
The programme stated with the recitation of the Preamble of the Constitution of India, where our children sang the part beautifully and meaningfully. The Central Prison Superintendent Dr. Anitha delivered a meaningful message to the gathering. She spoke about the importance of the Constitution of India in the life of every individual.
The students extended the programme with the meaningful explanation of Raksha Bandhan and the brother sister bond that exists in India. Some students tied the rakies to prisoners and presented a cultural programme to entertain the inmates. Our students felt that this was a great opportunity for them to meet the inmates of the prison and also speak to them and build the new religious bond through Raksha Bandhan.
The programme ended with a smile on everyone’s face. The Prison Ministry India, Diocese of Shimoga Unit, expresses gratitude to Superintendent Dr. Anitha for providing the opportunity to celebrate this Constitution Day and cultural feast with our brothers less fortunate.
