The Shimoga Diocese Women’s commission organised the Women’s Day Celebration on Sunday, 10th of March, 2024 at Don Bosco Chitra Degree College, Chithradurga. About 200 women from 11 Parishes participated in the event. “Inspired & Inclusion and Invest in women - Accelerate progress”, was the theme of this Women’s Day Programme. The events of the day commenced with a prayer and brief welcome by the hosts at Chithradurga.
Sr. Elize Lourdu SCB introduced the theme of the Women’s Day celebration and explained how important it is for our women to be inspired with progress and be inclusive in the community. In the society women play a great role in development and progress she said. Mrs. Isabella Selvaraj Xavier from Sadhana human rights Trust Dharwad addressed the gathering and with practical examples explained the important role woman plays in society and how they have contributed to the harmony in the Parish & society.
Chief Guest of the day Rev. Frs. Richard Anil Dean & the host Rev Fr. Steven Director of Chitra Don Bosco spoke on the role of women. The Women’s Commission honoured all the religious sister in charge of the Parish cell and special persons like the State level winners in the field of sports and art cultural, namely, Mrs Helen D'Souza, Miss Pavithra D' Mello from Kable Parish. Then followed cultural activities After the vote of thanks all participants joined for Lunch. At 2:30 pm All the participants joined the Holy Eucharist. Liturgy was meaningfully prepared by the Chitradurga Parish.
