The Commission for Ecumenism, Shimoga Diocese, in collaboration with The United Christian Forum (UCF) - Shimoga Zone, successfully hosted the Ecumenical Christmas Carols Singing Competition on December 9, 2023, at Sannidhi, the pastoral centre of Shimoga Diocese.
A total of 11 teams participated in the competition, representing various parishes of the Diocese and independent churches from Shimoga District. The event commenced at 2:30 pm following instructions from Fr. Nelson Pinto OCD, the director of the Commission for Ecumenism and UCF Shimoga. The panel of judges included Fr. Regi Paul SDB, Fr. Joseph Cyril OCD, and Mr. Jeevan Siddi.
Sacred Heart Cathedral Shimoga emerged as the winner, securing the first prize, while St. Antony's Parish Ragigudda and St. Thomas Church Davangere claimed the second and third prizes, respectively. All participating teams received appreciation trophies.
Fr. Duming Dias, the director of Sannidhi and the coordinator of commissions for Shimoga Diocese, felicitated the judges and presented trophies to the winners and participants. The program concluded at 4:30 pm, with the participants enjoying Christmas cake and tea.
