On 26th January 2025, a special Jubilee Day celebration for the altar servers was held at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The day began with a solemn Mass at 9:00 am, which was animated by the altar servers themselves. The Eucharist was celebrated by Fr Stany D’Souza, who offered special prayers for the altar servers during the Mass. At the end of the service, the altar servers took an oath reaffirming their commitment. They were presented with a rosary.

Around 30 altar servers participated in the event. After the Mass, the group gathered for a breakfast, followed by a short formal programme. Fr Stany D’Souza, the parish priest, led the altar servers in prayer and gave a heartfelt address on the significance of Altar Servers Day, especially in this Jubilee Year.

A short video highlighting the life of St. John Berchmans, the patron saint of altar servers, was shown to inspire and educate them. Sr Dorothy, the chief guest for the event, then spoke about the importance of the Jubilee Year 2025 and its relevance to the altar servers, emphasizing their role in the church community.

The day continued with a series of fun and educational activities, including a quiz and games, which the boys thoroughly enjoyed. The activities were not only entertaining but also enriching, allowing the altar servers to learn more about their responsibilities and the history of their ministry.

The event was concluded with a delicious lunch, followed by a prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the various activities. The entire event was organized by Msgr Stany D’souza and Fr Paul Anand with the support of ICYM.
