Shimoga, 16 May 2024 – A groundbreaking Teachers’ Orientation Program was held at Sannidhi, diocesan Pastoral Renewal Centre, Shivamogga marking a significant shift in educational approaches for the upcoming academic year. The event saw a gathering of 52 educators from three prominent schools: Lourdes Boys School, Davanagere; Maria Nivas School, Harihar; and Nirmala School, Harappanahalli.
The program commenced with an opening prayer led by Father Arun Venil D’Silva and team, setting a reflective tone for the day. Mrs. Esther extended a warm welcome to the gathering, after which the highlight of the event unfolded.
Most Rev Dr. Francis Serrao SJ, the Bishop of Shimoga and the esteemed resource person of the day, delivered an enlightening orientation session. His insights provided an “eye-opener” for the teachers, revolutionizing their understanding of teaching and education. The sessions were not only informative but also transformative, equipping educators with new perspectives and methodologies.
In a touching tribute, our Bishop was honored for his decennial episcopal ordination, celebrating ten years of his dedicated service in the Diocese of Shimoga.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Mary Velankanni, who expressed gratitude towards all contributors. Special appreciation was expressed towards Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto, the director of Sannidhi, and his team for their exceptional team hospitality.
The event was a collaborative success, thanks to the keen interest and efforts of all managers and correspondents. Their commitment to training the teachers has been pivotal in preparing them for the challenges of the new academic year, 2024-25.
As the day ended, it was clear that the Teachers’ Orientation Programme had successfully laid a solid foundation for a transformative educational journey ahead.
