The volunteers from the Prison Ministry of India Commission led by Sr Elize Lourdu SCB organised a Free Health Check Up programme on Wednesday, 5th of June 2024 for the women inmates of the Central Prison for women at Shimoga. The programme commenced at 2:00 pm with a short prayer guided by Sr Elize and her team. Mrs. Hemavathy the superintendent of the prison welcomed the volunteers as they generously gave the inmates their precious service and medical care. She showed her happiness for the contribution they make every time.
Sr Elize welcomed the Prison Administrators and the prison inmates and explained the purpose of their visit namely performing the general medical check-up on the one hand and to celebrate the World Environment Day held on the 5th of June. She informed all of the support from the Family Planning Association of India for conducting free health check-up and thanked them immensely.
The rest of the programme was centred round the theme of Environment Day, stressing on Restoring Life of the People & Nature as we aim to strengthen our Eco system and study the possibility of revival. The spokespersons of the day Mrs. Seetha &. Annamma enlightened the inmates on various aspects of environment and how individually we can transform our locations, places and society and thus support our nature. Mrs. Savitha the Jailor/ Assistant superintendent thanked the Prison Minisry of India Team and especially the Family planning Association of India for conducting free health check-up. Sisters from Mary Immaculate convent Shivamogga shared the refreshment for all the inmates. The programme ended at 3:30 pm with the singing of the National Anthem.
