On November 3, 2024, the Parish Community of Our Lady of Velankanni, Old Town, Bhadravathi, celebrated the feast of St. Charles Borromeo, patron saint of the Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo (Nirmala Hospital) and catechism teachers.
During the liturgy, the congregation prayed for the sisters and thanked God for their service. The sisters, their lay associates, and catechism teachers participated in the entrance procession and liturgy.
The melodious choir of nursing students from Nirmala Hospital enhanced the celebration.
In his homily, Parish Priest Fr. Steevan D'Sa illustrated the Word of God, connecting it to St. Charles Borromeo's life. He emphasized loving God and neighbor, stressing the importance of teaching catechism. Fr. D'Sa appreciated the dedication of catechism teachers who serve selflessly.
During adoration, the parish prayed for catechism teachers, St. Charles Sisters, and their lay associates.
After Mass, catechism teachers were honored with mementos. The sisters distributed cake and juice to all, while the Catechetical, Bible, and Liturgy Commission of the parish provided a breakfast for the catechism teachers.
