On January 5, 2025, the Hongirana members, the elderly members of the Parish, celebrated the feast of their patron, St. John the Evangelist. Around 40 members gathered.The members animated and actively participated in the 9:00 am Mass, with Fr Paul Anand SJ as the main celebrant. He prayed for the members during the Mass. At the end of the Mass, Msgr. Stany D’Souza, the parish priest, offered prayers and blessings for their good health.
Following the Mass, Sr. Dorothy CB led a prayer for the Hongirana members and shared words of encouragement. Mr. Albert, the president of Hongirana, welcomed the attendees and spoke a few words. The gathering also included fun games, prize distribution for the winners, and a discussion about their upcoming pilgrimage to Velankani. The group also celebrated Christmas together, reflecting on the message of being stars of hope, leading others to Christ.
The day was filled with joy and fellowship, with a hearty breakfast and lunch sponsored by Mrs. Mabel D’Souza and Mrs. Albin. Several Hongirana members were honored for celebrating 75 years. Mr. Victor D’Souza concluded the event with a vote of thanks. It was truly an enriching and uplifting experience for all who participated.
