The solemn inauguration of the 2025 years’ Jubilee of the birth of Jesus Christ at the diocesan level took place on 29 December 2024 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral. The procession of the Jubilee Cross began from CSI St Thomas Church, Shivamogga at 4.15 PM. Prior to the procession Rev. Fr Santhosh Almeida conducted the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ, the Bishop of the Diocese of Shimoga led the introduction prayer service and blessed the Jubilee Cross. Rev. Fr. Santhosh Pereira preached a short homily on the significance of the Cross.
The solemn Holy Eucharist of the inauguration of Jubilee 2025 began at 5.00 PM at the Sacred Heart Cathedral presided over by Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ. Rev. Fr Simon Pinto preached a meaningful homily on how the Holy Cross of Christ fulfills of the hope of all His followers. Cross is a sign of hope because the one who has died on the Cross for our salvation has accomplished everything in Hope.
At the conclusion of the solemn Holy Eucharist the Bishop pronounced the decree declaring Sacred Heart Cathedral, Shivamogga and Our Lady of Health Minor Basilica, Harihar as the official Jubilee Centres for the Diocese of Shimoga. Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto, the Coordinator of the Jubilee 2025 celebrations along with Msgr Stany D’Souza made all the arrangements for the inauguration of Jubilee 2025.
