The volunteers from the Prison Ministry of India, Shimoga Diocese, organised a special programme for the women inmates of the Central Prison for women Shimoga on Thursday, 24th of October teaching them Fashion design and saree design with Beeding work. This was the follow up programme of art work, cover and paper packet making programme organised earlier. The Newly appointed superintendent of the Prison, Kumari Bhavya Shree and the Sub-Jailor Mrs. Bhayerathe and the team offered a very warm welcome.
Sr Elize Lourdes the coordinator of the programme after a short prayer gave a warm welcome to the officials and the inmates of the prison. She introduced all the volunteers and Art Teachers to all those present there. Sr Elize thanked specially the officials for the release of Mrs. Payal a migrant from Jharkhand and appreciated the good work and support of Mr Anthony Dias from Sharavathinagar Parish for the silent work and dedication which helped towards her release.
Dedicated time was spent for the art work and design making training given by the volunteers and training teachers. They were enthused to learn well so that they can put into practice at a later stage. The prison officials particularly the new Superintendent appreciated the efforts of the PMI volunteers. In their vote of thanks they mentioned especially how much precious time is spent to help those helpless people. Reminding the oncoming Deepavali festival, the Feast of Lights, the volunteers wished them in advance the joys of a happy feast and prayed that the joy of the feast and enlightenment may come in their hearts. Before departure the PMI volunteers distributed sweets to all present. Mrs Ambika gave the vote of thanks.
